So, if you want to learn how to strengthen your self-improvement and continue growing in your journey, keep reading. This article will cover eleven self-improvement tips you can start using today to become a better entrepreneur and individual.

#1 Learn Visualization Techniques to Develop Self-

Improvement

What Is Visualization?

Visualization lets you picture your future success in your goals or specific events. The purpose of visualization is to prepare yourself for the experience beforehand by picturing positive outcomes. Many successful people use visualization to increase their chances of success in their goals or a given event.

For example, Oprah Winfrey used visualization to push herself from poverty to becoming a media mogul. When she was younger, Oprah witnessed her grandmother working her life away and decided she wouldn’t become that. Now, Oprah claims that “you become what you believe” and is a huge advocate of affirmations.

The purpose of visualization is to prepare yourself for the experience beforehand by picturing positive outcomes.

Benefits of Visualization

Gain Confidence

Visualization can increase confidence because you visualize yourself achieving your goals and performing to the best of your abilities.

Decrease Anxiety

Visualization can decrease anxiety because you imagine an ideal scenario in your head. As a result, you feel you’ve already experienced it and gotten a positive result.

Enhance Performance

Visualization can enhance your performance because you’ve pictured yourself performing to your greatest potential.

Spark Inspiration

Visualization can spark inspiration because you’re picturing your goals, which may lead to increased creativity and ideas.

#2 Set Small Goals

Setting small goals is a little tip I picked up from the author of Atomic Habits, James Clear. I’m a visionary, meaning I think and dream in the big picture. However, setting big goals for big dreams can often lead to burnout and overwhelm. After reading Atomic Habits, I discovered I could still achieve my big dreams with much smaller goals.

How Are Small Goals Useful for Self-Improvement?

Small goals are useful for self-improvement because they can build upon one another and, over time, lead to massive results. For example, let’s say you want to run a marathon, which is a pretty large goal. You wouldn’t run a marathon the next day unless you were a trained runner. Instead, you would create small goals to lead you to your large goal. You might run a few miles daily, adding a little each week to increase your mileage. Eventually, you would build up the endurance to run a full marathon.

#3 Practice Practical Optimism

Practical optimism is one of my secret self-improvement weapons for success. I believe in the power of positive thinking and making the best out of any scenario, which is exactly what practical optimism is. It means taking any situation, good or bad, and finding something positive.

An example of practical optimism would be when I was in college, and I wrote a musical. Although the cast and I only performed for less than a dozen people at each performance, I remained positive. I knew something good could come of this situation, and it did.

Little did I know, a man who happened to be a prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist was watching one of the performances. After the performance, he told me he loved it and wanted to produce it because he was impressed with my hustle and determination. Eventually, this same man backed me on a few of my entrepreneurial ventures and is a great friend and mentor to this day.

#4 Learn New Skills to Strengthen Self-Improvement

Learning new skills is essential for strengthening your self-improvement as an entrepreneur. Continuous learning can help you strengthen your skillset and spark new ideas. As a result, you might open doors for potential opportunities, get promoted at work, discover a new hobby, and even gain confidence.

#5 Read Daily

Billionaire investor Warren Buffet is known for reading an average of six hours daily. Although six hours might seem excessive to some, Warren’s reading habits led him to accumulate a net worth of over $110 billion as of 2023.

Now, I’m not saying that reading will make you a millionaire. However, reading a few pages a day can significantly improve your knowledge and stimulate your brain. If you’re not an avid reader already, I suggest starting with a few pages a day and working your way up to a comfortable amount.

#6 Take Care of Your Body

Taking care of your body is essential to building a strong foundation from which you can work toward your goals and become a better version of yourself.

Eat More Whole Foods

Processed foods, although tasty, can lead to poor mental and physical health. However, instead of cutting out all processed foods, which can lead to an unhealthy obsession with them, try to incorporate more whole foods into your diet. Adding whole foods might mean adding more fruits and vegetables or protein to your daily meals.

Get Daily Exercise

Daily exercise, even a simple 10-minute walk, can significantly improve your health and overall well-being. I suggest finding a form of exercise you love and trying to perform it as often as possible. If you don’t have time for some reason, any purposeful movement will be beneficial.

#7 Build Discipline to Enhance Self-Improvement

Discipline is one of the key skills that separates the successful from the unsuccessful. Discipline allows you to work on your goals even if you don’t feel like it.

Remove Distractions

Removing distractions can be useful for building your discipline. Distractions can be the TV, phone, computer, or anything else that isn’t moving you closer to your goals. I suggest cutting down on distractions instead of cutting them out completely to avoid burnout. I also suggest replacing one distraction with one healthy habit.

For example, when you catch yourself scrolling mindlessly on your phone, try to grab a book and read a few pages instead. I guarantee you won’t regret reading, but you may regret wasting time on your phone.

Practice Long-Term Thinking

Long-term thinking involves strategically planning for the future through your present actions. Instead of engaging in immediate gratification, which focuses on short-term thinking, try to delay gratification. Delaying gratification is a form of long-term thinking because it forces you to stay disciplined toward your goals because you believe your hard work will pay off in the future.

#8 Create Routines

Creating routines can be useful for increasing productivity and sticking to your goals. For example, I have early morning, mid-morning, afternoon, and evening routines. These routines allow me to section my day according to my tasks. As a result, I can avoid procrastinating because I have set deadlines to complete all my tasks.

Tips for Creating Routines

Visualize Your Ideal Day

Before you create a routine, you need to determine what tasks you want to accomplish each day, work and personal. Try to focus on your most important tasks first and then add in other tasks.

Start Small

Try not to cram too much into your routines, or you might overwhelm yourself. Instead, try to create a routine for one portion of the day and adjust as needed.

Make It Fun

A strict, rigid schedule isn’t going to be sustainable for a long period of time. Try to incorporate little pockets of fun to break up your day and make it less stressful. For example, if you have a lot of tasks to work on, try to play some relaxing music. You can even create a reward system for yourself as you check off tasks.

Prepare Beforehand

Try not to wait until the day of to build a routine. Developing a strong daily routine takes time and effort to succeed. Preparing beforehand by mapping out your day and tasks can help you better visualize your routine and stick with it.

Track Your Progress

Tracking your progress helps determine if your routine is helping you work toward your goals. If it isn’t, try to adjust your routine. For example, your routine might fail if you’re not a morning person and try to get all your work done in the morning. Instead, you might plan to have a slower morning and get your work done in the afternoon and evening.

#9 Practice Meditation and Gratitude

Practicing meditation and gratitude can help reduce stress, reflect on your goals, increase self-awareness, and focus on the present moment. I like to start my day with meditation and gratitude, as it helps me be grateful for the day ahead and clear my mind.

Even spending a few minutes a day practicing meditation and gratitude can help boost your mood and focus for the entire day.

#10 Let Go of Things You Cannot Control

It’s easy to worry about things you cannot control. However, doing so gets you nowhere. Instead, try to only focus on what you can control. For example, you can’t control the economy or your background, but you can control your actions. You have control over how disciplined you are and how much time you spend working on your goals.

#11 Seek Out Mentorship and Community to Boost Self-Improvement

Mentorship and community are vital to self-improvement as an entrepreneur. Although our world is becoming increasingly remote, human connection is essential for building relationships, lowering anxiety and depression, and opening the door for potential opportunities.

Benefits of Mentorship and Community

Mentors and community can provide advice, support, accountability, friendships, networking, knowledge, and gaining a fresh perspective. As a result, you can learn from others who may have made mistakes or learned valuable lessons in their entrepreneurial journeys.

Tips for Finding a Mentor and Community

Some places to find mentorship and community are through your personal network, live or online events, and social platforms. One place in particular that I’m quite proud of is my online community and 1:1 mentorship that I offer through my company ENTRE Institute. ENTRE is an online life transformation platform that teaches everyday people how to become digital entrepreneurs and strengthen all areas of their lives.

ENTRE’s online community consists of students currently enrolled in our curriculums. Many students post updates, wins, and struggles, provide advice, and connect with other students.

ENTRE’s 1:1 mentoring program is included when you enroll in the curriculum and involves access to a business mentor. ENTRE’s mentors are everyday people who have built successful businesses and share their knowledge and expertise with you throughout your journey through the program.
