How to Become More Entrepreneurial

How to Become More Entrepreneurial

Whenever you hear the word entrepreneur, what immediately pops into your mind? Do you picture billionaires like Bill Gates and Elon Musk? Generally, most people think entrepreneurs are some rare breed of people born to be great. However, I believe that everyone is an entrepreneur because everyone can be entrepreneurial.

An entrepreneur is someone who creates a business, taking more risks to do so. However, entrepreneurs are usually not small-minded people. They don’t just want a business; they want impact. They have a burning desire to solve problems and change the world. So, keep reading to learn how to become more entrepreneurial to generate success in your life.

The Evolution of the Entrepreneur

Because of the rise of technology, becoming an entrepreneur is easier than ever. The “new” entrepreneurs are using their skills and talents to create a business. People figured out they could start a business from their phones with little to no money. They’re starting their own brands and advertising them for free on social media platforms. It used to be that you had to get funding and raise capital to build a business. Now, all you need is an app and a desire to get out of your comfort zone.

My Journey to Entrepreneurship

In my 30s, when I was overweight, deep in debt, and divorced, I decided to enter the new age of entrepreneurship and post on social media. I had no idea what I was doing, but I didn’t care. I knew technology and the internet would be huge, and I didn’t want to waste my opportunity.

So, I posted cringey videos from my ex-wife’s parent’s backyard, and I haven’t looked back since. I’m saying all this to say that I wasn’t born into greatness. I created my own greatness by building skills that allowed me to market my idea to an audience.

Long story short, I started a brand based on myself, amassed a loyal following, and became a successful entrepreneur.

Common Traits of Successful Entrepreneurs

Every successful entrepreneur has certain traits they’ve developed over the years that have attributed to their success.

Entrepreneurs Love Solving Problems

As I mentioned above, entrepreneurs have an innate desire to impact the world by solving problems. They don’t shy away from challenges; they welcome them.

Entrepreneurs Don’t Fit In

They don’t desire to fit in because they don’t want to live the same lives as everyone else. Entrepreneurs want to distance themselves from the crowd to see the gaps and problems they can fix.

Entrepreneurs Are Risk-Takers

Entrepreneurs are inherently risk-taking individuals. They aren’t impulsive, however. They take calculated risks based on the ROI or return on investment. If the return isn’t worth the investment, they won’t take the risk, and vice versa.

Entrepreneurs Are Smart

Entrepreneurs are brilliant. I’m not talking Einstein smart; I’m talking smart in financial and business terms. Entrepreneurs know how to use debt as leverage to make money, reduce their taxes, and make their money work for them. For example, entrepreneurs use debt to purchase assets such as real estate. They also know how to write off deductions such as property repairs and mortgage interest.

Entrepreneurs Love the Process

Entrepreneurs are obsessed with the journey, not the destination. They’re more concerned with perfecting their processes and becoming better than reaching a specific goal.

Lastly, entrepreneurs prioritize their personal development. Your personal development is the foundation upon which you achieve success. “You can’t pour from an empty cup” – Joseph Fleming.

How to Become More Entrepreneurial

Here’s where you take all the information above and apply it to your own life. You know that you are an entrepreneur, and you know what traits you need to have to be a successful one. So, here are a few things I would suggest you do if you want to become more entrepreneurial:

Develop Practical Optimism

Practical optimism is looking at every situation in life as an opportunity to improve or learn something. You never know what positive outcomes could happen because you choose to push through a difficult situation.

Surround Yourself with Successful People

You are a reflection of the people you hang around. If you want to succeed, hang out with successful people. Entrepreneurs always surround themselves with people who are smarter and more successful than they are because they want to be better.

Don’t Be Afraid to Take Risks

Taking action is the first step to seeing progress in your life. Getting out of your comfort zone is difficult at first, but it’s the only way you’re going to change your life. However, take a page from the entrepreneur handbook and determine if the risk is worth your investment.

Learn Sales and Marketing

I cannot stress this one enough. Building a successful business will be challenging if you do not know how to sell and market to an audience. I recommend studying sales and marketing psychology to understand why people buy things and use those tactics in your business.

Final Thoughts

Becoming more entrepreneurial will benefit you in every area of your life. So, I challenge you to apply these tips and watch your life transform before your eyes.
